Checklist
Here’s a checklist to assist you in preparing for your move.
 |
Decide what is to be packed by us and what you will pack. |
|
Decide what items you wish to transport and what you want to dispose of. |
|
If you have pets, you will need to make separate arrangements to transport them. |
|
Plan on taking with you, any valuable jewelry, important documents (such as passports, wills, stock certificates, etc.) cheque book and keys. |
|
Clean out your closets, attic, storage rooms, etc. of the items you will not be moving. Wardrobes to be moved must be emptied. |
|
Empty and defrost your fridge, freezer and dishwasher. |
|
Remove the dust bag from the vacuum cleaner. |
|
Back up all your computer files on disc and take the discs with you as a precaution. |
|
Disconnect your computer system. |
|
Drain your lawn mower and power tools of oil and petrol. |
|
Dispose of unsealed liquids. |
|
Mark all items you intend to move yourself or those items that remain so there is no confusion on moving day. |
|
Clean the BBQ |
|
Disconnect the gas bottle from the BBQ. Please empty the gas bottle if you want us to transport it. |
|
Clean rubbish bins, wheel barrow, lawn mower and lawn tools and compost bins. |
|
Drain and coil garden hoses. |
|
Clean and empty dog kennel, fish tank and birdcage. |
|
External Services |
|
Arrange telephone disconnection at old home and connection at your new home. |
|
Arrange final readings of gas, electricity and water meters. |
|
Arrange with Australia Post to have your mail re-directed. |
|
Contact your insurance company to change the address of your home contents and building, medical and motor vehicle insurance. |
|
Cancel or redirect delivery of any goods (i.e., newspaper, spring water, etc.) |
|
Cancel or redirect any magazine or periodical subscriptions. |
|
Collect items that are being stored or cleaned (such as clothing). |
|
Return borrowed items (such as library books, ladders, etc.). |
|
Collect school, medical, dental and vet records. |
|
Book pets into a kennel, if necessary. We can also arrange this for you. |
|
Contact your bank and credit card companies to update your address. |
|
